Vegan Restaurants in the USA | Make Out the Healthy & Delicious Spots

Eating vegan has become more than just a trend—it’s a lifestyle. Across the USA, vegan restaurants are rising fast, offering creative, flavorful dishes made entirely from plants. Whether you’ve been vegan for years or you’re just curious about plant-based dining, there’s never been a better time to explore.

In this guide, I’ll take you through some of the best vegan restaurants in the USA, what makes them special, and how you can enjoy amazing plant-based meals while traveling or dining out near home.

Why Vegan Restaurants Are Growing So Fast

Over the past few years, vegan food has changed completely. It’s no longer just salads and smoothies. Today’s vegan chefs are reinventing comfort food—think burgers, tacos, sushi, and even cheesecakes made without animal products.

One major reason for this growth is awareness. More people are learning about how plant-based diets help the planet, improve health, and show compassion toward animals. Restaurants have responded with menus full of vibrant, satisfying meals that don’t sacrifice flavor.

When you walk into a modern vegan restaurant, you’ll notice it’s not just about being “healthy.” It’s about enjoying every bite while knowing your food is sustainable and kind.

What to Expect at a Vegan Restaurant

If you’ve never been to a vegan restaurant before, here’s what you can expect:

  • Creative Menus: From BBQ “pulled jackfruit” sandwiches to creamy cashew Alfredo pasta, vegan chefs use plants in amazing ways.
  • Fresh Ingredients: Most vegan spots focus on organic, locally sourced produce.
  • Inclusive Options: Many vegan places also offer gluten-free, soy-free, or nut-free choices.
  • Warm Atmosphere: You’ll often find a calm, eco-friendly vibe—perfect for mindful eating.

So, whether you’re after a cozy brunch, a fancy dinner, or just a quick smoothie, vegan restaurants have something for everyone.

$10–20‧Vegan restaurant

I’m beyond grateful Google did not disappoint me. I am proud to say after the first visit, I found myself dining at Hey Sunshine Kitchen for four more visits in the same week.

Delicious food, amazing customer service and intentional branding with the purpose of educating their customers about plant based foods will always be my main reason I keep eating at this establishment. With each visit, the goal is to try something new because every item on the menu is chef’s kiss.

My favorites are the Mac and Cheese, the Fiesta Carnitas bowl with brown rice as the base, the Chickpea nuggets, the Raspberry Lemon cake and the Mediterranean Chickpea sandwich . Hey Sunshine Kitchen is a 10/10 . Highly recommended for vegetarians! A winning recipe for success!!!

First time trying Boomchia and so happy to be given the opportunity as I’m sure you have missed out!!

Everything we got was delicious! At first I was confused about how to start order, especially with the bases but staff was very patient and walked us through.

Love our Matcha and bluepea base as well as our dragon fruit base! Toppings were unlimited which was very generous and we ended up really satisfied! The fruits were super fresh!

5. lil’ Vegerie (Rating 4.9/5)

$10–20‧Vegan restaurant

Lil Vegerie is flipping the script on Vegan cuisine. The food is absolutely DELICIOUS! People who think Vegan food is bland and boring are in for a pleasant surprise. The food has so much flavor, is filling AND healthy – the holy trifecta for which all food should be measured.

I’ve tried quite a few of their bowls and have been mind blown every time. I’ve been spreading the word and every single person I’ve recommended them to has reported the same findings – unbelievably good. Keep up the great work.

$50–100‧Vegan restaurant

I’ve had Vedge on my list of places to try in Philadelphia for a while, and I’m glad we did!! It was perfect for my family visiting who are a blend of vegan and non-vegan eaters.

I myself eat meat typically but in this meal I did not miss it one bit! For 4 of us we got one of everything on the menu and left more than satisfied. The mushroom carpaccio is a must.

7. Fabrik Austin (Rating 4.9/5)

$100+‧Vegan restaurant

Without a doubt, Fabrik offers the best vegan/vegetarian food in the Austin area. We’ve tried most of the vegan places in Austin but Fabrik is a notch above with its careful ingredient selection and amazing flavors.

On the autumn menu, carrot chowder and hay ice cream stood out as our favorites. It is unfortunate that this gem of a place did not get a Michelin but it is every bit deserving to be on the list. Highly recommend this for anyone in the area looking to try elevated plant based cuisine with a carefully crafted menu!

8. Brick City Vegan Montclair (Rating 4.9/5)

My new favorite vegan restaurant in NJ. Incredible flavor, friendly staff, so many different things I can’t wait to try. We got the chicken and biscuit sandwich and the California burger. Both amazing. The sweet potato fries were delish too.

Green tea and hibiscus tea were refreshing and a sweet treat. Thrilled to have a vegan place in Montclair. I loved looking through the collection of vegan cookbooks while we waited for our dinner.

9. J. Selby’s (Rating : 4.7/5)

J. Selby’s is hands down one of my favorite spots in St. Paul. Over time, I’ve worked my way through just about everything on the menu, and while every single dish is creative, flavorful, and satisfying, there is one item that always pulls me back: the breakfast burger. No matter what else I try, it ends up being my number one choice every time.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service is consistently kind, and the food is so thoughtfully prepared that even non-vegans leave impressed. Whether you are stopping in for a quick bite, a casual brunch, or just to indulge in some comfort food done right, J. Selby’s never disappoints. It has become a true staple for me, and I always look forward to coming back.
